A Gravely Dirty-ish Road Ride

BWGravelRiding

Friday brought a series of crap home problems for me to deal with, but nothing so serious that the grand tradition of throwing money and other people’s knowledge at them won’t cure. It was also nothing that could prevent me from squeezing in a 35 mile multi-surfacial ride.

The morning was pretty perfect for riding with sun, blue sky and temps in the high 60s at ride time. It was the sort of day that called for a long ride, sadly I did not do a long ride. The aforementioned home stuff, plus B-Man’s want to kick the ball around later over at the soccer field in the afternoon, had me more than content to get 35 miles of pavement, dirt and gravel roads in my legs and call it a day.

The addition of the Boone to my stable basement of bikes has proved to be one of the best bike buying decisions I’ve ever made. Outside of a rear wheel issue in which I was breaking rear spokes at the hub every 250 miles or so, I could not be happier. The rear wheel (knock on wood) has been holding strong under my hulking girth since it was re-laced with better, stronger spokes last month, so my Boone stoke level is pretty high. The combination of the carbon fiber, the IsoSpeed de-coupler, and my decision to run fat 40c WTB Nano tires has smoothed out the Michiganderburgh roads in a way that I previously thought only possible via riding my 29er.

But hey, you didn’t come here for bike reviews from someone who knows fuck all about bikes other than he likes riding them, you came for… um… ah… I have NO idea why you came here… photos of soy beans?

Sea of soy.

Sorry, that’s all I got.

Bunch of rain last night and this morning, so I’m gonna grab the fatty and ramble on.

Later.
