A Tuesday Ride

I got out Tuesday morning for a ride south of town with the PrOcal. I’ve been opting to use the PrOcal on the rides south of town due to many of the roads being extremely sandy and torn up by Amish horses and buggies this time of year, but I have to admit, anytime the roads smooth out I am left longing for the efficiency of the Boone. The gearing of the PrOcal is way more suited for actual singletrack (probably because it’s made for actual mountain biking, not putzing around slowing on gravel roads), and I just feel like I’m pedaling on fly paper much of the time.

Having said all that, when things get sandy and shitty I plow through with confidence without so much as a wobble.

Another bonus for using the Boone is that my DSLR Slinger bag is suited for the mountain bike and my D500 fits snugly in it. I dig all my cameras, but the D500 has quickly become my favorite for just about everything.

I am still in the endless pursuit of a bar bag that will fit my D500 with the 18-200mm (at least) and accommodate the Boone (or a dirt road/gravel photo taking fantasy bike like the Salsa Cutthroat or Bearclaw Thunderhawk). For the foreseeable future I will more than make do with the goods I got, ’cause they’re pretty fine.

Time to try to squeeze a quick ride in before getting shit done. Going to roll the Boone and maybe throw the “I really need to sell it soon” D7100 in my bag.
