Today I finally broke the fifty mile mark. I know, that’s not even a big deal, but for some reason not “officially” breaking fifty miles for a ride was a thorn in my love handled side for weeks. But I did it today with 51.5 miles. And Christ did I earn it.
I will surely do a longer post tomorrow about how I finally got my fifty, but had a SPECTACULAR, EPIC bonk with fifteen miles to go due to not properly refueling after yesterday’s ride and not eating right when I did. I haven’t bonked as bad as I did today since my hardcore endurance racing days when I seemed to fuck up every race I ever entered.
That blog post and lamenting will come tomorrow. For now, I just wanted to post and say that I got my fifty, I bonked, and that this is the ten-year anniversary of this blog.
Yep, on April 25th, 2005 I made my first post as The Soiled Chamois. I don’t know why I do this, I just do. I contemplated quitting a few times, but why? I do this for me and me alone. If someone reads it and likes it, I am stoked. If they don’t, no big deal. This is a hobby. I make no money, I just like writing, I like riding and I like taking pics. That is all this blog is. I find blogging much better than random Tweets, Tumbler shares and Facebook dross (not that I don’t succumb to that stuff, but I like this better). If you think blogs are dead, piss off. I don’t really care. Long live the blog!
Later.
