Back On The Fat Farm

After five days of travel, overeating, no exercise, typical sloth-like ‘merican living and an epic battle with travel induced constipation, I am back and ready to get back into my regular gym, riding, eating and loaf pinching routine.

The five days did tell me a few things and have me asking some questions (in no particular order).

  • I have no idea what people that don’t ride, or at least workout a few times a week do.
  • I really miss making my own Thanksgiving dinners. Wifey, B-Man and I had gotten in the routine of making Thanksgiving at our house for a few years before we moved to Michigan and I really miss it. I might start making “my” Thanksgiving at New Years or something. Just to get my taste buds back on my brined turkey. Mmmm….
  • Three years in a small mid-Michigan town has spoiled me. We have traffic here (sometimes it takes almost 6 minutes to go to the other side of town… hitting red lights and dealing with students during the school year) but Western PA, has TRRRAAFIC. It took me over 45 minutes to complete a 20 mile round trip, and that was with hitting some green lights. Glad I don’t have to deal with that everyday anymore.
  • I REALLY miss the hills of Western PA. There are rolling hills here in Michigan, but none of the STRAIGHT THE FUCK UP hills and extended climbs that Western PA has. Damn.
  • As much as I miss parts of Western PA, I don’t know if I could live there again. I in no way live in paradise now but it’s different and I feel better here, my blood pressure is a LOT lower and my mental condition is better. Not “winning,” but not “losing” either.
  • Who are these “shit camel” people? I went over 24 hours without dropping a dook and was going crazy. I’m like 3 to 5 times a day guy (I know your were wondering).
  • I love apple pie… well, at least I love it when it’s in liquid form, 140 proof, dangerously smooth and comes from somewhere in the hills of West Pennsylginia.

So with that, holiday #1 in the Trifecta of Evil (Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years) is done, time to get back to the gym, back on the bike, back on the wagon (within reason), back to eating clean (ish) and back to blogging.

BTW, the photo above of the chubby woman working out is obviously and thankfully not me. However I think it accurately portrays how I felt after not working out for 5 days, spending 14 hours in the car and having my shit schedule fucked. I horked the pic from this story on The Daily Mail’s website.
