It’s been ten days since I last strapped hiking sneakers on my feetz, and it might be another four or so more until I do so again.

50 Grit Rests & Declines
After the near fruitless photo creep I did last Saturday morning, and the rabid, angry-toothed dog meets insane random stranger in a parking lot incident, I took Sunday off to do whatever it is I do when not lumbering or taking photos. I think adult beverages and pre-Euro ’24 International friendlies were involved.
Of Dogs and Dinguses
I ended this week with no real way to make my 30-mile goal and nursing a few aches and pains. So, I opted for a short photo creep around Meridian Park rather than a lumber. In hindsight, I should have just hiked; the pain would have been more fun.
Bunnies In The Hole
After my first 30-mile week in over a month, I was eager to keep that going this week. Sadly, for a variety of reasons (none of them good), I can’t imagine that I’ll get more than 20-25 this week—my bad.
One bright note was the bunnies in the hole (not code for a bizarre sexual parlor game).
Staying In My Lane
After taking Sunday off to rest and goof off, I was eager to get back into the woods for some lumbering this week. Sadly, it would be delayed due to an early morning appointment with my eye doctor that took way longer than expected. With that, my return to the woods would have to wait until Tuesday while I took care of some much-needed chores around the Cul De Sac Shack. That was my first mistake.
Thirty Again
It finally happened! I finally got some pain-free mojo back and completed my first 30+ mile week since late April.
Redundant Miles & Photos
I have returned to the woods for my daily lumbers with next to no pain left from April’s Dog Dirt incident. However, by mile 5 it does start letting me know that it’s still hanging around.
Almost There
It’s 6:41 AM on Sunday morning, the sun is up, the air is cool, and my first of two cups of Bust Ass are going down nicely.
Part of me wants to lace up and get out for some early morning lumbering, but the other part of me knows that my foot is finally making some real progress in the pain department, so caution must be exercised.
I also know that my stomach has been a mess this week with some sort of bug, which has exhausted me; the Championship playoff final is on at 10, I need to pick up some groceries, and once the grass dries, it will need to be cut for the second time this week (a two-mile walk each cut in and of itself).
So, while I only got 20 miles of lumbering in this week (down 10 from my 30-mile goal), I’m hopeful that I’m finally turning the corner in the pain and random injury department and plan to get back to normal lumbering this coming week.
Later.
The Delayed Restart
Last week kind of sucked. I did a dirt road ride on Monday due to a continued issue with my right foot, but I wasn’t really into it, so I headed back into the woods at 85% fitness and had next to no fun and only got 16.5 miles in my aching feetz.
I once again took the weekend off from any outdoor fitness activities and committed to stretching, resting, and watching the last weekend of Premiere League football until August.
Lumbering at 85%
After taking the weekend off for more lawn mowing and general mischief, I headed out for a short dirt road ride on Monday.
