Plans & Dog Poo

The best-made plans can often end up being steaming dog poo. It’s a fact. However, there are times, as in this case, that the ruined best-made plan was only a blog post; it was just OK-ish, and instead of dog poo, it just became an unpublished file of word salad on my hard drive.

I spent my Friday gym time at home with a raging case of DOMS in my pecs and bicep muscles, so I wrote a long-ass blog post instead of going to the gym, only to realize that I couldn’t find any photos in the Not So Stankment from the time period I spoke of. Then later, I realized that I wrote a post in 2018 that was just a little too similar to the 1,500 words I wrote that morning and, in turn, aborted the whole shit and shebang. My waste of time is your gain.

On Saturday, I was up early to watch Spurs1, drink large amounts of coffee, eat an egg white omelette du fromage with toast, scream at the TV, bask in a Spurs victory over Leeds United, and eventually haul my ass to the gym for a late-morning workout that included a 3-mile lumber on the Dreadmill and my normal Operation Pec-Lift weight routine.

The day could have ended right there and been fine, but later in the day, I got to hang out with Wifey for a bit watching murder mysteries, drink some of the last remaining Bell’s Hopslam in the central Michigan area, and make some food whilst listening to Yard Act at annoyingly loud volumes.

Sunday was Sunday with no gym time, watching (most of) Liverpool and Chelsea in the EFL cup final, and then heading to watch B’s high school e-sports Rocket League team cruise to victory at the Block House just down the street from Terry’s Cycle in beautiful downtown Alma, Michigan.

After a good weekend, I was up early for required Dad and Husband duties on Monday, then it was more coffee, another egg white omelet, more miles on the gym Dreadmill, and more weights as part of OPL III.

Mini lasagna for the Friday night dinner win. Shitty photo though.

I am happy to be entering the 2nd week of OPL III and week 4 of finally finding some mental traction after months of feeling lower than I have felt in ages. The past six or seven months have been a strange trip down Anxiety and Depression Lane (it’s next to Lonely Street), but I am happy to be getting back to being more my stupid self. I’m still apprehensive about the longevity of said good mood, but I feel more and more confident as the days go by.

Jebus, after reading over this dross, maybe my best-made plans did become dog poo! This is crap that no one should have to read! I’ll do better next time.

Later.

NOTE: Pics are random ones from around the house over the weekend.

  1. Tottenahm Hotspurs are the Premier League team I’ve supported since Clint Dempsey had a spell with them back in 2012. Yes, they can drive me crazy, but that’s part of their maddening charm.
