The Bad With The Good

Wifey and I finally found the title for our one old car, so we were able to get to the dealer Saturday morning and pick up our new ride. That was good. However we still need Pennsylvania to send us the title for the xB so that we can get to PA and replace or sell it and its toasted engine, that is bad. At least we have a safe, reliable vehicle to make the 6+ hour drive to Pennsylvania… that is good.

After all the paper work was finished up at the dealer, it was home to kit up and get out for a ride before the rains came. The clouds looked rather ominous as I made my way out of town, so the plan was to do the 25 mile dirt version of my Better Than The Trainer Ride.

I basically had to do a time trial in order to avoid the coming rains. It felt good to push harder than I usually do and I was surprised with how good it felt. Maybe I need to head out into coming storms more often??

Other than slowing my pace to snap a few pics, I spent the majority of the ride with my head buried, pushing hard into the building head winds until the loop let me take advantage of some generous tail winds.

The ride was good and I was stoked to have been able to squeeze it in. I was also stoked that as I cruised the last few blocks through town a drizzle started to develop that soon after turned into hours of heavy thunderstorms. Good.

Unfortunately, the trivial highs of a good ride and a new car didn’t last, as later in the day we received the sad news that Wifey’s grandmother had passed away. While her passing was expected, it doesn’t make it any less sad, especially for Wifey and for B-Man who is dealing with his first lost loved one.

The goofball side of my life, blogging and riding will be on hold for a little bit as the next few day will be spent traveling, dealing with real life, death and stepping up my dad and husband duties to help family grieve for a lost loved one.

Be back soon.

Later.
