My plan on Tuesday was to get a nice long-ish (for me v.2014) ride in during Wifey’s day working from home. However that plan was–not so sadly–ruined by a series of ball rattling thunderstorms that rolled through Michiganderburgh. So I ran. OK, that’s a lie, I alternated running and walking on the treadmill for three miles. Then I made a hamburger on the grill for lunch and stoked my belly (the one I had just felt flopping from my waist like a flaccid penis for 35 minutes) with every calorie I had just burned and then some. Such is life… such is life as a cyclist who seems to ride less and less with each passing week, eats more and more with each passing day in the pursuit of a tastier burger and writes an almost certainly unread, pointless blog post series called the Soiled Burger Project… On, get this, A CYCLING blog! What the fuck?
As I said, such is life. Now let’s eat Burger 03, better know around these parts (my office) as Frank & Tony’s Original Spicy Soiled Gobbled Sausage & Beef Burger…
I went pretty simple with this one as I was speed grilling in betweenst downpours. Here’s what I threw in:
- 1/4 pound or slightly less of 85/15 ground beef
- 1/2 link of hot turkey sausage (removed from casing)
- 1/2 teaspoon of Tony Chachere’s More Spice Seasoning (1/2 tsp. was too much, use a 1/4)
- 1/2 tablespoon (more or less) of Frank’s Red Hot sauce
- Dash of black pepper
Additional toppings, etc.:
- 1 sesame seed burger bun
- Few leaves of spinach
- 1 slice of cheddar cheese
- Diced onion
- 1/2 tablespoon of low-fat mayo
- Ketchup
This burger was quick, it was easy, it may have been too salty due to using a bit too much of the Tony Chachere’s seasoning. I mistakenly used a 1/2 teaspoon. A 1/4 would may have been better. Really, it was hard to tell if it was indeed too salty or if I failed to mix the seasonings through the meat well enough, because after that first salty bite it tasted swell. Frank & Tony’s Original Spicy Soiled Gobbled Sausage & Beef Burger was indeed spicy and was pretty good. I’m sure I will make it again with some slight changes to the mix and the toppings. Still an OK burger.
Overall Soiled Burger Project Score: 6/10
