All aboard the Depression Express (TOOT! TOOT!), next stop: Crazy Town!
No, I’m not going to bore you with tales of the random fits of depression and anger that I’ve been dealing with for a few days now, mostly because I can feel it ebbing away like a lost erection into the soft man-FUPA of life. Also because I don’t know what the cause of it was, other than being bored with life, not sleeping well, not enjoying who and what I’ve become/not become, and wanting the world to normal up for just a gahdamn minute—ONE MINUTE!!
But, like I said, ebbing and shit. So, into the woods, Fat Man!

Tuesday’s lumber was like hiking through multiple climates over 5 miles. The temperature was close to 70, which wasn’t horrible, but the humidity was crazy, and just by climbing and descending the lowland trails you could feel the difference in temps and humidity. I haven’t felt anything like that since I used to night ride back in the early 2000s. I remember, during those rides, I could feel the contrast in temperatures and humidity when descending into small valleys in the woods. Of course, now I’m just an old fat man lumbering through the woods with a camera taking crap photos of critters and nature nubbins, but I could still feel it.

In addition to the crazy weather, the critters were once again lying low, with only a couple of robins and a deer cooperating for my camera. I did see an Osprey fly overhead, but it was too fast and rolling away from me to even attempt a shot.
To be honest, my mind was pretty dark during those miles, so I’m actually impressed I remembered any of what I saw or did.
Wednesday I woke up feeling a bit better mentally, and was greeted with much cooler temps and much lower humidity. It was actually chilly when I started!

I did another 5+ mile loop, got a couple of crap bird photos, as well as a shot of a Mama deer and her little one eating along the river.
This week is progressing better than last, but it’s not been great. And sometimes better has to be good enough.

Tomorrow I need to get in and out of the woods ASAP so I can be home within the oh-so-convenient time frame of 9AM to 1PM to greet an appliance repairman coming to fix our stove’s oven that shit the bed on Monday evening (so much for roasted vegetables). On top of that, I had to cancel a dental appointment I made six months ago to be home, and will have to listen to the receptionist lecture me about how many months it will be until I can get another appointment. To which I will then be forced to lecture her on just how much I do NOT give a fuck.
Later.
