The woods were a welcome 30˚ warmer today than yesterday, which made things much more comfortable. I also felt pretty good, considering that I did 7 miles yesterday. So why not do it again?
I’m really digging the new course that I’ve been doing and happy with the mix that it offers. All but one trail would also make a great mountain bike loop, but that’s for another day.
I did make a couple off-trail diversions during today’s effort. The first time was due to spotting a lone deer wading in the river, noshing on some low-hanging leaves. I missed the shot, and the one I did get was slightly out of focus, so I trashed it.
The second time was when the morning’s coffee hit me hard, and I needed to make an emergency poop stop behind some trees. All I could think about after was a conversation Wifey and I had over the weekend about poison ivy in which I declared, “I get it, but hardly ever.”
A conversation that I’m still thinking about as I write because I currently have some red marks on my shins that itch a little. Not too bad, so it could just be some scratches from bushwhacking to the poop patch or from having grass clippings sticking to my sweaty, hairless meat sticks for 90 minutes whilst I mowed the grass after my hike. A decision I currently regret, but shit’s growing fast, and there’s heavy rain in the forecast for tomorrow.
Given that I fucked up the deer shot, today was another day with no critters, but I did get some OK shots of a red columbine that was not there yesterday morning and other nature nubbins.
Fourteen miles in two days, followed by a 2-mile walk with a lawnmower in 80˚ late-morning heat, has me pretty spent, but nothing some water, food, a “pint of the black stuff,” and some “porch time” won’t cure this evening.
Later.
IN OTHER NEWS NOT ABOUT ME AND BETTER FOR IT
Last weekend, B and a few fellow students he’s living with while in London for school took a quick trip to Amsterdam. The shots he got were awesome, and he had a great time. I don’t think B would mind me posting a few of my favorites here, so enjoy. Sorry, I have no hash brownies to share, just pics.
Also, it’s pretty funny that B owns a Sony a7 and good glass, but his everyday walk-around camera is an old Sony CyberShot that is worth about $150. He’s taken thousands of pics with it since he got it about a year ago. These photos were taken with the CyberShot.

So proud of this kid, and more than a tad jealous!
