After last week’s two-day getaway, I embraced not leaving the house for a few days like a fly to a fresh turd, Wifey promptly left for a quick trip to Pennsylvania to visit her family, and B went to visit friends up north.
While I joked with Wifey that me alone in the house would lead to un-idle hands, bad decisions, solo naked frolicking (probably with food), and deleted search histories, I actually just hung out with the dogs, dranks some beers, listened to music, and watched the Women’s European Championship before dragging my ass to Forest Hill Nature Area for a photo creep late Sunday morning.
With the warm temps and the late start to my walk, I didn’t expect much in the way of critters and birds, so I also took along my macro lens setup, figuring I could always rely on some bugs and flowers to scratch my picture takin’ itch.

As it turned out, I had one of my best days of shooting in a few weeks and really dug some of the stuff I got. Beyond the photos, I couldn’t believe how many random acts of nature I saw over the span of a 3-mile hike. It truly was a great day to be out doing stuff, and I had the whole nature area to myself. Thank god, because when I get in the zone stalking critters and bugs, my adrenaline goes threw the roof and, combined with an 80˚ day, leaves me a sweaty mess. It’s rather unsightly.

Rather than frighten you with thoughts of my sweaty, gelatinous body stalking unsuspecting forest critters for my pixelated creative self-gratification, I will just post the photos and move on.
