After the mood I was in last week 1, I was surprised to have such a good weekend that featured a whole lot of not much.
Of course, there were some times when I was doing more than “not much,” and found myself skulking around the Soiled Pollinator Garden looking for bugs and buds.

I got some shots of a bumblebee, a green bottle fly (AKA a fly that enjoys a dead body just as much as a wildflower), a sweat bee, and, for good measure, early Monday morning I found a dragonfly.

Speaking of Monday, I found myself back in the humid woods on Monday morning for a sluggish 6.08-mile lumber.

Not sure if it was the humidity or what, but I felt like a stumbling turd for most of the hike, and also had little luck with photos.
I did get a slightly out-of-focus shot of what the web tells me is a female Scarlet Tanager, which looks SO much NOT like a male. Who am I to doubt the power of the almighty Internet? I would usually refrain from posting such a poor shot, but here we are.

I also missed another shot of an Osprey, and it was in the same location as the last time. I was scanning the trees, camera in hand, and STILL didn’t see it until I moved to put my camera away, and it took off. Gahdamn-son-of-a-bitching-bird!
Tuesday was waking up to some lower temps, high humidity, and a central AC unit with fucked compressor. Despite the AC on the fritz, I was still able to get in the woods, bang out a 5.45-mile lumber, and get home before the HVAC service even opened.

Sadly, the woods were SUPER dark today from low-hanging clouds, and what critters I did see were uncooperative with my picture-takin’.
Home, showered, fed, and the AC dude was here and gone by 10:30 AM. The unit is fixed, and will live to blow another day. Joy.

Later.
NEWS NOT ABOUT ME AND BETTER FOR IT
B-Man has been working for the Browns for a little over a month, including a club-wide week off over the 4th of July, and is settling in nicely.
He’s worked on multiple projects, but the clip below was one that, as soon as I saw it, I said, “This is SO Brennan’s work!” And I was right!

The work is starting to really pick up, and before you know it, it’ll be time to work the games. As a parent, it’s fun to watch him in his element and know he’s happy doing what he’s doing. Of course, I think he also likes the free lunches the team provides to the employees, ha!
- A mood which was once again spawned forth by nothing other than my own inability to accept the good in my life and actually let myself be happy about it without my brain telling me that I should feel shame, guilt, and unworthy of joy. ‘Cause you know, happiness is for other people, not people like me. This is something hardwired/indoctrinated in me from birth, and which I have battled for most of my life. I’m getting closer, but when it hits, I feel like shit for days.
