The week of lumbering has been damn good so far, and dare I say I have been feeling better mentally and physically than I have since roughly last October. *knocks on every piece of wood in the house* Spiderweb
On Tuesday, it rained all day, and on Wednesday morning, the woods were filled with more spider webs than I have ever seen at one time in my life! The bright morning sun on cool, wet leaves created a flickering light show, which, when combined with the morning mist and thousands of cobwebs, formed a magical, if not slightly eerie, setting—it was amazing!
The conditions also made for a great hike, and I happily bit off another 7-mile lumber (7.03) and stoked the hunger in my belly for a breakfast of scrambled egg whites, refried beans, and homemade turkey sausage, topped with no-fat cheese and hot sauce. A breakfast that came in at just 347 calories, with only 7 grams of fat, and 45 grams of protein! I never thought so few calories could be so filling.

Thursday
On Thursday, I was back at the trails at 7:05 AM, and the weather, while sunny, was way cooler than I expected, with temps coming in at just 39˚ at the start.
With just over 20 miles in my legs, I knew that I had no need to push for another 6 or 7 miles, so I lumbered out a nice 5.14 miles and now sit at 25.22 miles on the week.
Here is where I normally say something about doing more miles if I want to. However, with my brain and body feeling better than they have in months, and spring sun finally getting my mojo going, I have issued an Executive Order for this week’s goal to be moved to a minimum of 30 miles. Trust me, like most Executive Orders, America will not be any greater for it. I will be, though, and sometimes that’s all I got.
Once the hike was done, breakfast was eaten, and I did some quick trimming outside before running some errands. Before I knew it, I was home to make my new favorite lunch: Crispy Soiled Pepperoni Pita Pizza!
I have flirted with pita pizzas before, but I’ve been nailing the process lately, and this pizza made with a full whole wheat pita, marinara sauce, part-skim mozzarella cheese, and turkey pepperoni comes in at just 390 calories. And it only takes 10 to 12 minutes to make and bake.
Later.
