Still Longing For Dirt

I wish that I could say that the above photo was taken recently. Sadly, it is not… It’s a little too heavy on the tilt-shift photo from a March 2012 Soiled Chamois post.

I found the photo when I got wondering if in years past I would have been riding outside by now. It turns out that the answer is yes, in years past I have been out several times on a bike other than a fat bike in the snow and ice. Having said that, March is the possibly the most psycho of all months (especially here in Michigan), meaning one day it can be 60˚ with dry roads and the next day it could be 20˚ and blowing snow.

It’s March’s psychoness that would not allow me to get excited in the least bit that it was sunny and nearly 50˚ here today. Sure, it was awesome to see and hear snow rapidly melting from the roofs and road. However, it was less awesome to run into a friend of mine this afternoon and have him inform me that we’re supposed to get another few inches of snow in the next couple days. It was also not that awesome to nearly fall on my face as I slipped on ice as I reached into my mailbox. Cuss you weather!

So with that I am left still longing for a ride on dirt (hell at this point I would even take pavement!). I really need Spring to get here so I can start logging some serious miles! If not I will be moving up another pant size and have to apply for a donor liver.

Winter can’t last forever but it sure is trying.
