I had some time in between a freelance logo I’m working on for an old co-worker friend back in the ‘Burgh and “doing stuff” today, so I jacked around with some textures, backgrounds and an October “file photo” from my Standard Gravel Ride. It’s sort of fun just to fuck around now and again… making shit burgers out of shit. Carry on.

It’s A Texture Issue
I had a bit of free time on my hands this morning, so I monkeyed around with some recent pics, utilizing some textures I recently found in the computer web thing. Some worked, some didn’t, some were too much and some added just enough of what I was looking for.
A Wednesday on Dirt (Roads)
Today was another amazing fall day in the palm of “the mitten,” and I was eager to get out on some dirt roads. I extended my northern dirt road route further west and south of town today and got in just under three hours of pavement, gravel, dirt, sand and as you can see– dust.
I really don’t know what I was thinking when I decided to get out my “new to me” camera and expose its lens and mechanical naughty bits to the tsunami of dust a speeding sand pit bound dump truck left me today. You just know tomorrow I’ll be complaining at length about how my lens is scratched, the shutter grinds and my photos look worse than they already do. Idiot.
Road Ride Pay Dirt
Today was a good day for a ride on the dirt roads surrounding my crib, and they did NOT disappoint, that’s for sure!
I won’t go to into all of the details of the ride, ’cause they ain’t that impressive, but just as it is with riding in the woods on singletrack, I see a little more than most when out on the dirt roads, so for the most part, I will let the pictures do the talking.
Basically the ride broke down like this: go south of town, hit Deerfield Road which is one of the shittiest roads I’ve ever been on (teeth rattling, nut sack pounding ripples of suck and THAT is on a freaking mountain bike), do some flats, do some mild hills, do some pavement, some sandy roads, see some freaky dirt road stuff, enjoy the ride, get 2.5 hours of riding in and go home. Fin.
Here are the pics…
A Sign From The Carb Gods….
Tuesday was a ride banked on a better Wednesday ride. Wednesday sucked due to a supposed storm that never showed up and thoughts of a better THURSDAY ride now crept in my skull.
Enter Thursday– I got kitted up, filled my bottles, lubed the chain and set off. Just 5 miles down the road I started moving in sloooww…. moshheeeeee-onnn….
First Day of School Ride
I hated to see B-Man go back to school today (Holy 4th grade!!), BUT I would be lying if I said I wasn’t pretty stoked to get some spare time back in my day for more riding. To celebrate, I harnessed all that geek-uped-ness and headed out for a nice 36 mile dirt road ride on my hardtail. Continue Reading →
Sleeping In
Last night I went out to watch the Tigers game at The Tap Room with a couple of friends of mine. When I returned a few Wit Dreams later I proclaimed to Jake The Dog that”I am so f*cking sleeping in tomorrow! Yep, gonna sleep late, spend the day watching DVRed football matches and maybe go fishing.” Jake didn’t care, but I was stoked at the prospect of lying around like a big, ever fattening, piece of human apathy.
8:27 a.m… I’m up.
Come Tuesday I will surely give my left nut to sleep ’till 8:27 a.m., but that is not really what I had in mind for today. The next thing I knew I was guzzling coffee and watching Man U go down to Liverpool 1-0. As I ate I started to think about doing a workout, maybe do some walking/jogging/running/hating man kind on the treadmill or something while I watched Spurs vs. Arsenal.
Somehow that workout turned into me on the gravel roads with my bike, the barns and the corn. So much for today being a lazy Sunday of sleeping in and watching soccer football. Too bad I didn’t make it fishing… oh well, maybe tomorrow.
