The Power’s Off

I was up super early Monday morning to go to a 3:30 AM physical therapy appointment (OK, it wasn’t 3;30 AM, but it sure felt like it). I was stretched, yoga-balled, pounded, rolled, BOSU-balled, etc., etc., in the ever failing attempt at having my back and hip feel normal during rides.

I’ve been less than busty the past few days, so I figured I might as well ride after the appointment. I wasn’t really feeling a dirt road ride, but I wasn’t feeling driving 25 minutes to the trails either. So I rode dirt roads on the PrOcal which was standing in for the Boone.

The air was hot and humid, the breeze was steady and power sucking, and I felt slow and sluggish, and a bit pissed that $250 and counting worth of PT copays still has my back and hip hurting when riding. Doctors appointments, X-Rays, MRIs, and physical therapy, and the pain is still there. Cleat, stem, saddle, and post adjustments have also proved pointless. I don’t need surgery, and I by no means want pain pills. I really just want to ride pain free.

The ride was mercifully short.

Now Tuesday I’m looking ahead at seeing what needs to be done, and what I want to control my muffin top today. My first instinct was to ride of course. Now I’m thinking no. Sort of thinking of a new hobby. There is a casino outside of town, maybe I’ll just start playing the slots all day? Or not.

Later.
