We are currently void of snow here in the mid mitten, however we are sadly not void of cold ass temperatures. I can’t make up my mind if I am happy about that or not. On one hand, it is nice to go out and roll the El Mariachi on dusty, hard pack dirt roads, but since the temperatures are only in the mid-twenties (or worse) when I ride, I have to dress in all the same layers of winter clothing to do so… so, I might as well ride the Farley on snow pack. You dig?
Two weeks ago I encountered multiple plow trucks on the road seen above, today that same road was frozen solid as a rock and any passing vehicle (like the dump truck way off in the distance) left a thick cloud of eye burning dust and road ash in the air. *cough* *cough*
Today was the sort of day that I wanted to do more than a quick Better Than The Trainer Ride™, but I know what my limitations for winter misery are and these days I am more content to be consistent with my riding (or treadmill running) than worry about epic distances or times. Winter rides of twenty miles here and thirty miles there are more than OK with me. As of today (December 2nd) I have still yet to ride indoors and unless snow gets bung hole deep for weeks on end and make riding the snirt roads and trails impossible on the Farely, I don’t plan on doing it any time soon., I figure my feeble, belly flopping attempts at running on the treadmill will fulfill any need for sweating in my basement.
Later.
