On Sunday morning, I went back and forth, and forth and back, about whether to go for a photo creep at Meridian Park or not.
Finally, forth won out, and I ended up skulking around the river banks and trails of Meridian Park in the dense fog with my Z6 and Sigma 150-600 lens looking for birds, critters, and nature nubbins.
It had been months since I was last a Meridian to photo creep, mostly because I find I get slight PTSD from thinking about the 2017-ish through 2022-ish years, when photo creeping around looking for birds in a haze of depression, trying not to cry for unknown reasons, became the bulk of my outdoor fitness activities. While I enjoyed the shots I was getting, I hated what I had become.

Well, thankfully, that’s all over with, and now my photo creeps are merely a way to do some active recovery after a week of lumbering and to get some critter shots.
One of the major reasons I was going back and forth about the creep was due to the heavy fog this morning. It’s hard enough to get focus on a bird in the brush or trees, and fog just makes quick autofocus that much harder.

I got a few shots I dug, and missed a bunch of shots. The misses were mainly due to the fog, but I also found that more than a few times, the lens was knocked out of AF mode, or the focus limiter button was hit as the lens brushed against my side, hanging from its harness and strap. It was pretty frustrating, and I ended up hand-carrying the heavy lens most of the time.

It wasn’t my best photo creep, but it also wasn’t my worst.
For shits and giggles, I turned my watch on and saw that I had crept around for a bit over 3 miles, but those miles are NOT part of my weekly mileage goals.

Looking forward to getting back to legit lumbering on Monday.
Later.
