The week thus far has not gone to plan, and my mood has suffered for it.
Tuesday, a dentist appointment and other duties put a stick in the spokes for a lumber, and Wednesday I woke up to another round of fresh snow coming down and an absolute lack of desire to drive in it.
“Fuck this shit, I’ll just do some treadmill work!” I declared to Wifey as she vanished into her office for a day of video appointments and dealing with people.
The treadmill was not used.

Along with sulking around like a 3rd grader while watching it snow (again), I also got around to photographing, listing, bubble wrapping, and packing some old cameras and gear to trade in on some new photo kit I have my eye on.
At least I felt a sort of like I did something productive towards my lumbering and picture-taking.
Before long, it was time for the Champions League matches to start, and I set about killing brain cells in various ways, so as to forget the week thus far, the embarrassing Great American Shit Show, and the endless cold and dark of January in Michigan.

What might Thursday bring?
After two days off from lumbering, I was back on Thursday, with some much-needed new winter hiking boots on, along with my snowshoes, to stomp another 6+ mile loop. It also brought the brief returns of some sunlight.
I did the same loop as on Monday, and today was more than 6 minutes slower due to the fresh snow and a pace that was more trudging than lumbering. As I type this several hours later, my legs and knees are feeling the morning’s stomp. But I’ll take sore legs and knees over being stuck alone in the house, forehead pressed against the cold glass as I gaze out the back door, dreaming of better days and warmer climates.
I probably shouldn’t have gone as long as I did due to the new boots and my feet adapting to the fit, but with hike-time temps forecasted to be -3˚F on Friday and -7˚F on Saturday, I think this might be it for at least a couple of days.
Sigh, it looks like I’d better get started on some playlists and time on the treadmill.
Later.
