Tuesday was one of those days that I woke up at 5:30 AM and pretty much went non-stop until around 1:30 PM.
First, I was in the woods for a 5.59-mile lumber with my camera. A lumber that yielded next to nothing in the way of photos, but it was still nice to get out in the woods.
After the hike, I made breakfast, ate, cleaned up the dishes, and then rinsed my hulking bodice off with a quick shower before heading for the week’s groceries, lawn mowing, trimming, cleaning up, lunch, shower #2, etc.
Finally, around 1:30 or so, I was done and pretty freaking spent and had nearly 15,000 steps in (not that I count, but it shows up in Garmin).
But then, I got some new macro close-up filters in the mail and wanted to try them out. So, soon, I was out lurking around the front yard landscaping like a camera-carrying creep.
The filters come in 1x, 2x, and 4x magnification and can be stacked if needed. They’re meant to fill the gap between using a macro lens or extension tubes and are way easier for me to carry rather than another lens. Personally, I found that the 2x filter offered the best results, but I’m still messin’.

Wednesday, I was back in the woods again at 6:50 AM and yet again struggled with anything to tickle my photographic fancy. Still, I bit off a 7.06 lumber and have 17.93 miles on the week thus far, which means 25 is easily doable, and 30 miles is a definite option, depending on how I feel.
Speaking of miles, I failed to mention that on Monday, I went over 100 miles for the second month in a row. Going over 100 miles of lumbering in a month is something I had got pretty used to doing, but then, starting on November 5th, 2024, my brain shit the bed, and then the bed got even shittier with the deaths of my father in December, my dog Jake the very next day, and my mother-in-law in early March. Add in all the stress, grief, travel, and a case of the flu that lingered for weeks, and that was the perfect cocktail for fewer miles as I attempted to feel better and un-shit my mental bed. I think I’ve done it. Could I have just completed another “normal” month??
Later.
