I took the weekend off from lumbering to rest my right foot, which has given me some issues over the past several weeks. It was maddening not “doing stuff” at times, but via the talents of today’s craft brewer, I managed.
I expected to be rested and ready to lumber early Monday morning, and I was, but my foot wasn’t. However, I pushed through the stabbing pain in my heel until it warmed up to a dull ache, and in the end, a six-mile hike was had.
I took no photos that day, save for an iPhone selfie to showcase the sheer amount of sweat I pumped out whilst lumbering through the humid woods, still muggy and wet from the previous night’s much-needed thunderstorms.
Even my favorite outdoor activity shirt (the Outdoor Research Astroman sun shirt) couldn’t handle the wicking duties, and I looked like a drowned pig by the end (as you can see from photo).
After the hike and a shower, I completed my normal list of Monday duties while hobbling around like an idiot until later in the day when I took some OTC beer as directed by myself and then completed a round of stretching, icing, and massaging.
I was certain I had made things worse by pushing through the pain on Monday, so I was shocked to wake up on Tuesday and have my foot feeling better than it has in ages. So, off the woods, I went.
The hike started shitty due to a camera harness malfunction, so 30 feet down the trail, I headed back to the car to ditch my z50 and then started off again, waiting for my heel pain to return at any moment. But it didn’t!
I lumbered on feeling “speedy,” and before I knew it, I was tacking on more trails to complete another six-mile-plus day, ending the hike feeling great, pain-free, and even sweatier than the day before (I looked exactly the same as in the photo above, but wearing a different color OR shirt).
Two days in a row with no real photos, but I did receive a small piece of camera equipment in the mail that might aid me in carrying my camera more efficiently. I guess I’ll find out on Wednesday.
Other than my shit selfie, and the water off the roof in a downpour, all photos in today’s post were taken during Sunday’s early morning photo creep around Meridian Park. Not my best work, but some of my best luck seeing critters. Always learning, though.
Later.
