Early Weeks & Dancers

There is no use typing the first bit; it’s always the same: Wake up, tend to the dogs, coffee up, breakie a burrito, dump out, and get lumbering before the unfortunate act of adulting commences.

The hike was a crispy one, and I was the only one in the parking lot at the start of what turned out to be another 7+ mile lumber through the woods and over permafrost and frozen leaves.

I hadn’t really planned on doing 7 miles, but knowing that I could bang out 4 miles on Friday morning, hit 30 miles, and have the entire weekend to slack was motivation enough for me.

RANDOM INTERLUDE:

I feel like I’m dying, but I’m afraid I won’t.
– 84 year old ultra runner, Eddy Rousseau

As mentioned here many times, I am not a runner, and truthfully, I don’t see it happening in the immediate future, but I am enthralled with ultra-marathons. So, as someone who is 52 years old going on 82, this article by Jared Beasley on The Guardian caught my eye today; I really enjoyed the last paragraph.

Frozen wood block in the parking lot. Finders/keepers.

Friday

Blah, blah, blah, up and out the door early today for 5+ miles of lumbering and ended the week with 30.69 miles in the feetz in just five days.

Dark grey morning, an old shit lens, and the river.

I am looking forward to a couple of days of chilling out, but I also know that I can get a tad cranky if I don’t get outside to blow the stink off of me and burn some calories, so, we’ll see what happens.

Later.

THE SOILED SOUNDS TRACK OF THE POST

IDLES continue to evolve with every release while still maintaining the punk edge and swagger that drew me to them the first time the song Well Done entered my ear holes back in 2017-ish.

The first single, Dancer, is from the upcoming album TANGK to be released in February. For this song, they teamed up with members of another long-time favorite, LCD Soundsystem.

Looking forward to the full release of TANGK on February 16, 2024.
