Fine With Missing Out

Sometimes you miss a goal, and sometimes that is just fine. Such is the case this week. I missed my “normal” weather goal of 30 miles of lumbering in 5 days. I also missed my 20-mile Winter Contingency Act goal, coming in at 18.88 miles in 4 days. But as I said, I’m fine with it.

Of my four lumbers this week, 2 were done using snowshoes, and 2 were done using microspikes. Both were simultaneously the right and wrong choices for that day, depending on whether you are a glass-half-full or glass-half-empty sort of person.

In any event, I made it work, got some miles in, and was outside with my camera. And on Thursday morning, I was even blessed with an appearance from the sun. Sun that actually stayed around long enough to have Lola (the dog) happily (I swear, she’s happy) soaking up the rays coming through the back door later that afternoon.

We are about to enter four or five days of weather in the high 40s and 50s, and I am VERY hopeful that next week’s lumbers are free from snowshoes, spikes, snow, and ice.

As for this week, I could still very well hit my goal if I go out over the weekend, but after 4 days in a row of lumpy snow, I’m taking Friday off to let some minor foot issues mend, and to go to Lansing with Wifey to drop some stuff off that B needs, and have lunch. Hoping we have time to visit the bottle shop at Horrocks!

Later.
