Frogs and Flowers

Last weekend was full of well-deserved slack, and I was happy to do next to nothing but watch some pretty horrible international football on the TV whilst drinking beer and fighting off the want to remove myself even further from the Great American Shit Show and the cult of racist, red-hat-wearing fuck faces who are in NO way making this country great again.

I digress.

I was back in the woods on Monday for 5.41 miles of lumbering and getting a couple shots of a green frog and deer that I saw through some brush and then, a few minutes later, crossed its path as it was noshing on some tree leaves.

Tuesday was more of the same, with a 5.71-mile lumber but with fewer critters and way more wildflower pics to help scratch the creative itch.

Decided to cut back on the distance a smidge this week in an attempt to recover from lots of miles over the past few weeks. My body feels fine, but my mind, very much like modern-day America, is fucking shit show right now, and I’m working overtime trying to find out why my “parts” are so fucked right now. Probably just gas.

Marco-ish Lens Talk

On Tuesday, I also did some experimenting with some macro-ish photography around the Cul De Sac Shack utilizing a few different methods and ultimately deciding that the Nikkor Z 105mm is one of the worst macro lenses I’ve ever used (unless I use focus stacking which is not ideal for handheld) and will be sold soon.

I also decided that I get WAY better shots using old Lester A. Dine 105mm I have, or better (and easier) yet, screwing on some Hoya magnification filters as I did today.

Anyway, here are a bunch of rose buds from the front yard. For size reference, the buds are roughly .25-.50″” in length.

IN OTHER NEWS NOT ABOUT ME AND BETTER FOR IT

On Sunday, Brennan FaceTimed us to show us that he was standing on the southern cliffs of England looking out over the Channel towards France. He also shared a look over the side at the rocks and sea WAY below, in which is mother promptly got dizzy.

It was amazing to see, and I’m so glad he shared it with us. He’s heading to Dublin this coming weekend, and before he comes home, he’s going to Germany to hang out with his roommate from sophomore year for a couple of days.

By the time he gets home he will have been in four new countries, which is four more than he ever has been to before. So stoked to see him out there exploring and photographing more enlightened parts of the world that aren’t trying, and failing, to be “great again.”

Later.
