After taking the weekend off for more lawn mowing and general mischief, I headed out for a short dirt road ride on Monday.
Monday morning was one of our warmest so far this spring, and the newfound heat combined with a steady westerly wind and my acid reflux turned up to 11 had me wishing I had opted for a ride in the woods and passed on breakfast.
I burned a few calories, took not one photo, and was soon home tending to Monday’s needs.
Tuesday morning brought a dentist appointment, dank, sunless, cool, fall-like weather, no hiking or riding, and the want to be anywhere or anyone else in the world right now. Late afternoon, beer and footy helped.
After 6 days without a hike, I found myself missing it, so despite my right foot still bothering me a bit, I headed out Wednesday morning for a 6-mile hike. It felt great to be back in the woods, and I realized that while some parts of me are glad to be back on the bike, there is so much I love about lumbering in the woods, especially at this time of year when everything is in bloom and smells incredible. So nice that I did a repeat of the loop on Thursday.

I wish I could say my foot is 100% better, but sadly, it’s only about 85% there, with post-hike time the most painful. Photo taking has been subpar, too, with an unusually low amount of critters out and about. I suppose the mornings are still a bit too cool for the turtles, frogs, and snakes. With that said, the photos here were taken during last Thursday’s hike, Friday’s ride, and a couple from this Wednesday and Thursday.
