Readjusting Again

After unwisely letting myself spew out some of the shit in my brain on Wednesday’s post, I took some time to go inside and talk to some of my “parts.” Something that’s not so easy for me when my brain gets stuck in the good ol’ adolescent trauma days scared about things out of my control, along with the never-ending judgments about my looks and weight from pretty much anyone and everyone in my life, especially at school, or should I say at a fucking hell with asshole kids and outdated text books run by shame-loving priests and nuns who know fuck all about dealing with kids. Well unless, they’re “getting something” out of it.

Often during my bi-weekly meetings with the OG Mindbender, I’ve shared that at 54 years old, I’m actually embarrassed of even saying that these things still bother me to the extent that they do. Thankfully, the OG never shames and assures me that she has many patients way older than me who are still dealing with childhood issues, and they also can’t believe how comments or events in their young life shaped (or misshaped) their brain to this day.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: never underestimate the words you say to a kid! The shit I overheard, saw, and was said to me happened 40 years ago, but in my mind, I still can hear every cruel word and feel every unwanted poke and pull at me like it was yesterday. On the plus side, this knowledge made my relationship with Brennan something that I’m pretty damn proud of and he’s never had the displeasure of being belittled or shamed by me.

This is my long-winded way of saying that it’s been a rough week, but by Thursday afternoon, I could feel my mood starting to lift, and I’m looking forward to the weekend.

On Thursday morning, I got out for a 5.59-mile hike and saw some critters. Sadly, the woods were still too dark at the time, and there was little saving the images.

Come Friday, I was back in the woods and did a 6.08-mile lumber to have me at 23 miles in 4 days. I also got a couple of “not bad” pics to share.

Football is on International Break this weekend, so I have no reason not to get out for some early morning miles. Well, unless I come up with a reason, which, based on last weekend, is something I should NOT do.

Later.
