The Post Since The Last

At the end of my last post I mentioned that I was getting ready to head up to MMCC to ride some singletrack. I did, it was fun, and unbelievable that it happened nearly a week ago. I got sidetracked, then did other stuff, then got busy, then got sidetracked again. In this post I do some catchup with riding and life, mostly with the use of photos.

After a good ride at Mid on Friday I set my eyes on a gravel road ride on Saturday. It to was a good ride in some of the most perfect conditions that one could ask for when riding Michigan dirt and gravel roads: sunny, cooler temps, blue sky, packed roads, and very little wind.

On Sunday I had plans to go watch and shoot photos at a semi-local Hare Scramble motocross race. One of my good friends was racing it so I thought it would be fun to go see him (seen below, #238F), take some photos, and if I got a few dollars from selling my shots online in the process that would be great.

I shot nearly 1,000 frames that day. I really had a great time shooting the race from the various vantage points, and for the first time in a long time everything sort of clicked (pardon the pun). The the AF settings I chose for the D500 were spot on, there were relentless photo ops and I was stoked with the results. Despite some social media sharing with race organizers, etc., I haven’t yet earned back my entrance fee, but right now practice shooting action sports is what I’m looking for, and I got plenty of it on Sunday.

Monday brought the first day of school for  B-Man and that sort of left me a bit depressed. I worked most of the day in a I wish the boy was here, even though all he did was sleep until 2 PM, funk.  Tuesday brought fog and morning mist and I had to catch up on a variety of things during the day, then B had soccer practice that night so riding got pushed back until Wednesday, when I finally got out for a 32 mile ride south of town.

The conditions were once again near perfect and riding 32 miles was easily done (as it should be for me) with plenty of water to spare and energy in the tank. I suppose all that stored fat is good for something!

I have a mid-day appointment today (Thursday) so I’m going to try to squeeze in a quick Better Than The Trainer Ride© and get back in time for some lunch and a shower before hand.

I’m looking forward to the coming holiday weekend and hopefully getting some miles in.

Later.
