Better Than Nothing, Again

I was up at 6:15 AM on Friday to embrace whatever fresh hell moderate inconveniences the day might throw at me. It’s been raining for like three days straight, and when it’s not raining, it’s gloomy as fuck as if it were raining. So it took a few extra guzzles of coffee and the promise of sunshine later in the day to finally convince me to start thinking about possibly leaving the house to ride my bike.

2 HOURS LATER

After skulking around the house for two-plus hours, making ill use of my idle hands, drinking coffee, and doing some house stuff, I finally got my shit together and headed out the door for a 20-mile Better Than The Trainer Ride™.

I can’t say that I planned 20 miles—I would have been happy with 10!—it just happened as I wandered around the familiar dirt roads near the Cul-De-Sac-Shack.

I’m still waiting for a new rear wheel for Mr. Burgundy, so I took the newly converted to 29er wheels Roscoe out. I have to say it felt good to be back on 29″ wheels; the bike takes on a whole new, more familiar feel with the new wheels.

The photo-taking was sub-par today, but it was nice to be outside after the past few days of rain, doom, and gloom.

Later.
