I needed less than 3 miles to meet my 30 in 5 lumbering goal for the week, but ain’t no one going on a 2.5-mile hike. So, I went into Friday with a plan.
The plan was fairly simple; do one of my normal 5-ish mile loops, then follow the river via car down to Meridian Park for some Soiled Photo Creeping. And that’s what I did.
The woods were super quiet and still, with very little critter activity. Over my five miles at Deerfield, the only photo even worth editing was of a robin. I may have had something to do with the fact that it was 28˚ and the critters who came back for spring are like, “Wait-WHAT??”
The loop ended up being 5.12 miles, and I ended my official week of lumbering with 32.50 miles. Stoked to be back into some sort of daily routine, free of weather curveballs and ice-packed trails.

After my lumber, I took the quick drive down the road to Meridian park, switched over to my 200-600mm lens, and took off creepin’ for birds and waterfowl.
As with my time at Deerfield, the light was horrible and there was not much happening from anything other than some of the standards: cardinals, red-wing blackbirds, robins, ducks, and geese. Having said that, I sort of dig the goose shot, and I got a couple of shots of some mallards in the river, and they hardly ever cooperate, and indeed flew away seconds after I took the shots. I wouldn’t call them “art,” but in my world of “hunting,” it’s a win.

Not sure what the weekend will hold, I might get out for some photo creeping, or I might just put my legs up and enjoy some beverages and crap International break footy on TV.
Later.
