Melting Snows & Buzzcocks

I don’t have many words to share, and rather than post these photos on Instagram, where they will never be seen, I am posting the photos here, where they will also never be seen.

This week has been very pro-lumber, with the snow melting and the trails doable using hikers with micro-spikes, and today, I was back to using comfy New Balance trail sneakers.

I’m sitting on 20.95 miles right now, and I’m hopeful to get back to my 30-mile goal this week. I hope so ’cause my spring needs sprung big time.

THE SOILED SOUNDS TRACK OF THE POST

The Buzzcocks were1 so amazing, and What Do I Get? is one of my favorites. It blows me away that this song was released in 1978! I was in second fucking grade and still had a couple of years of childhood left before my world was turned upside down by my mother’s illness and all the misery that came with it.

There are a few “best of” compilations floating around, and I recommend A Different Compilation from 2011 when the band went into the studio and re-recorded the songs with a more live feel. The vocals lose a bit of their 20-something snottiness due to age, but I love the album. Plus, I think I remember Pitchfork panning it, and that is always a good sign.

Sadly, Pete Shelley passed in 2018. RIP.
