Slack Bounce Back

After I hit “Publish” on the last post, my Friday was just about finished, and I had nothing but afternoon footy (evening footy if you live in London) and finishing the laundry on my mind.

I watched, I folded, I imbibed, I listened to music, and I imbibed some more. In fact, I enjoyed my Friday afternoon of slack so much that I kept the sad, pathetic, one-fat-man party going until 8 PM Sunday night when I went to bed after ruining another attempt at homemade pizza dough (my second pizza dough fuck up in a row after years of nailing it!).

Ahhh… 48+ hours without leaving the house for anything other than sitting on the porch listening to music and seeing no one else other than Wifey.

To be honest, the weekend of slack and sloth was just what I needed, and when I hit the trails early Monday morning, I was feeling refreshed and ready for another week of pointless lumbering in the woods whilst taking more photos of critters that never go beyond these posts and Instagram, where they promptly get 3 to 7 likes. But hey, I don’t do it for money or likes, I do it for the art, man.*rolls eyes*

To the lumbering…

Monday’s loop was just over 5 miles, and I saw Ma Deer and her fawns in the river again. I missed a photo when they splashed their way across to the opposite shore, but it was still cool. After many failed attempts this summer, I also got another photo of a Great Blue Heron (seen above). This one turned out way better than the last one.

When I started out today, it was just as it was starting to get light out, and I saw something making its way across the river in pre-dawn darkness. I lowered my shutter speed and took a few shots of whatever the lump was, and it turned out to be a raccoon coming home from the night shift. I’ve seen plenty of raccoons in my life, but this was the first time I saw one in a river.

I also saw a few deer, but it was still too dark in the woods to get a proper shot, so I passed.

That’s all I got, need to bounce back from the weekend of slack and get some work done.

Later.
