Saving Weeks

The past week was not my best week of lumbering, but I’m still on track to get over 100 miles in my feetz this month, so I guess I have that to cling onto like a deflated life jacket whilst sinking in a sea of American suck and worldly misanthropy.

Regardless of the lack of lumbering, intense heat, thunderstorms, and the endless appointments I seemed to have had last week, it was a good week if, for no other reason, our B-Man was back home after a month of school in London and some European travels to Amsterdam and Ireland.

The Good Odd Days

I was up at 5:40 AM, got Lola fed, had some coffee, read the footy news, dumped out, and then had my aging, flaccid white-man ass on the trails by 6:50 AM. There was much rejoicing.

When I pulled into the lot, there was an unfamiliar Ford Transit in the lot, and as much as I tend to imagine people living in the park, this woman was TOTALLY living in the park—at least for the night. As indicated by her van filled with racks of clothing, various water jugs, and bedding. Oh well, like James Hetfield once crooned, “Where I lay my head is home.” She was packing up as I set off down the trail and gone when I finished. Safe travels, Parking Lot Sleeping Lady.

Seven Miles & Some Pics

I was back on the trails at 7:03 AM on Tuesday to lumber out another loop of woodsy walking while doing my best to fill my camera’s SD card with nature nubbins and critter pics.

The morning was damp and humid under a slate grey sky that does its best to monkey with my shots and force me to over-familiarize myself with Lightroom’s shadow slider.

As predicted, the week has been a busy one, but that hasn’t stopped me from getting on the trails. I just couldn’t go as far as I may have wanted to.

Wednesday, I got to the trails just after 7 AM and did a quick 4.39-mile loop. A loop that was only “quick” because I saw virtually nothing that I wanted to photograph, and the shots I did take were complete shit. Not one keeper!!
