The past two, now three, weeks have been busy as I’ve upped my weekly lumbering goal to a minimum of 30 miles [I have 23.49 in my feetz as of Thursday A.M.] until the snow starts flying. Of course, with the combination of the world burning itself down, climate change, and El Niño ’23/’24 in effect, who knows, I might be hiking 30 miles a week in February… in a Post World War III nuclear wasteland littered with ashen, lifeless bodies. NOTE: I am not sure how I survived; I credit beer pickling.
But hey, let’s just keep literally putting one foot in front of the other, ignore what we can’t control (which, if you’re me, is 95% of everything in my life), piss on the fuckers that try to bring you down, and see what happens; worst case scenario you die mid-stream.
Haven’t been taking a ton of photos lately, but I got a few from the soggy, gold-hued woods today.
Later.
THE SOILED SOUNDS TRACK OF THE POST
Richmond, Virginia/PA’s Bat Boy have their debut album, Fun Machine, coming out on October 20th, and I’m pretty stoked. The track Decoder Ring has been in my earholes daily, and I’ve even found myself humming it in my sleep.
The catchy hooks of Bat Boy are undeniable, and my only critique of what I’ve heard thus far is that it might be a little too polished (but hey, that’s just me), and I’d love to hear some live versions. You can’t deny the hum-a-ability of Decoder Ring though; I find it (as well as the equally catchy Piñata Break) popping in my head almost constantly. Fuck yeah, Bat Boy!
