Getting Distracted

Oh, that weekend! It was a good weekend, but to be honest, it had no right being so.

As I mentioned in the last post, Saturday morning, I was up at 5:20 to coffee up, and get down in the Not So Stankment to put a second coat of paint on the walls of B’s bedroom. I have to say it turned out pretty sweet.

I was excited for a day/weekend of footy watching, but every team I enjoy watching played like shit and lost, and as far as Spurs in the North London Derby… well, we won’t speak of that shit show ever again.

Thankfully, the weekend was salvaged by making some good food, crime-fighting, some tasty beverages to quaff, and the delivery of a new “un-pro” level lens that I’ve been wanting to try out for my lumbers. More on that another time, ’cause I dig it, but I’m uncertain about a couple of things.

Come Monday, I was ready to get back in the woods per usual. Apparently, I was distracted by shiny new things, and as I went to start my Garmin, I realized that I had left it charging at home. Poop.

So, I stuck to a loop I know, only to get distracted (again) and miss a turn. So, I ended up having to hardcore guess my mileage. I’m sure it was at least 5 miles, so that’s what I went with.

Tuesday, I was back for another loop, and it was lackluster to say the least. The lumber was fine, but even once the sun was up, the clouds were so low that everything was WPA Grey. Not to mention, there was little to no critter activity. Although I did see a bluejay from a distance, right near the end of my 5.33-mile loop. (Yes, I’m sticking to the abbreviated loops for another week to avoid the border with private land and deer hunters).

Once home,  I cleaned the N.S.S. bathroom (B’s), and then Wifey helped me put the finishing touches on B’s room. We hung new blinds, put on new bedding, and got it looking fresh as hell for him when he comes home on Wednesday. WOOT!!

It was odd and kind of sad to update his room, but to be honest, most of his stuff is with him in Lansing. The downstairs family room is where he spent most of his time and where he still has a lot of his boyhood belongings. So, it actually felt like we were just spiffing it up for him and making it more adult for him for when he’s home for holidays or if he ever wants to move back in the future.

Gotta split, I’m beat, and there’s Champions League footy on this afternoon. The perfect companion for laundry folding!

Later.
