More Snow & Funk 45s

The more things stay the same, the more you want to drive to your local watering hole, hand them your credit card, and not leave until spring or your liver fails. Either way, it’s a win/win situation.

I sort of jest; despite the lack of sunshine, shit weather, and now the addition of 6 more inches of fresh snow on top of what we had, I have not been slowed down from my near-daily hikes and was able to hit my 25-mile goal on Saturday morning with a SLOW 4.5-mile lumber through the woods before the gamey balls of the latest winter storm arrived later that evening.

Why so slow?

Well, beyond my hulking body, age, and lack of fucks to give, I once again couldn’t be bothered to put on my snowshoes for the hike, opting to use a pair of cheap ice grips on the Hoka’s to help with any slipping instead. And while that was “good enough,” I would have been infinitely more comfortable with the Shnoes™ and probably faster. Relatively speaking.

Whatever the speed, I was happy to get the hike in and once again hit my 25-mile weekly goal, allowing me to spend my Sunday shoveling snow, slacking, watching FA Cup footy on TV, and writing this shit.

A rare glimmer of sunlight on Saturday.

The coming week will most likely be spent slugging it out on Snowshoes, working hard to get the 25.67 miles I need to reach the 500-mile mark of the 2022 Not Dead Yet Comeback Special/2023 Soil The Woods Tour.

So, yes, more of the same will be coming this week, only colder! I guess it’s a good thing I don’t have a favorite watering hole anymore.

Pics are from the last few days of snowy, woodsy walks and home life.

THE SOILED SOUNDS TRACK OF THE POST

I was chilling out with this DJ mix from Cut Chemist on Saturday night. So freaking good! Starts out with an old-school chill vibe, and by the end, you’ll be violently twerking, scaring the dogs, and pulling a muscle in your back.

You can also see Cut Chemist perform this set on YouTube. It’s sweet to see his technique as he plows through a stack of 45s, gradually building and shaping the set.
