Damn, that was a hella-fast weekend! A good one, but fast.
There was no lumbering or photo creeping to be had, but there was plenty of sleeping in, footy watching (Spurs f’ing lost 1-0), food making, music listening, beer quaffing, and crime fighting.
There was also copious amounts of fall leaf cleanup, which just might be the most Sisyphean task that a human can do. Thankfully, this year I am opting to mulch the leaves rather than bag and dispose at the recycling center. Good for the soil, and good for my back. I mean, there are only so many times I can roll that rock up the fucking hill.
I was eager to get back in the woods on Monday morning, especially since it was raining, AND I was able to start the hike without a headlamp, so that was a bonus.
Despite my eagerness to be in the woods, I felt like shit, and knew within the first mile that I would be opting for a shorter loop, rather than my standard 6+ mile one.

I blame my loginess on too much sleep and slack. I felt great when I woke up, but then my body was almost saying, “Can’t we just sit in your comfy chair and drink coffee?” No, we cannot.
Even though I felt tired, I still got 5.28 miles in, and saw some critters, including a big ol’ buck that may or may not be the one I just saw on Friday, but missed the shot due to the lack of light.
Once home, I was back to more leaf mulching before going for groceries, where, along with my normal shopping, I was put in charge of picking up some food items and needs for the Office Food Bank that Wifey’s office is starting for any support staff struggling during the government shutdown. Thankfully, we are in a position to do the helping rather than the needing. I never thought there would be a day that we would have to help fully employed people, because while they, and Wifey, are at work each day doing their part to keep this fucking shit show of a country going, they are not getting paid for doing so. I would say more, but that would violate my vow to stay “ignernt,” so, I will just let out a heavy fucking sigh.

Oh, and for the record, after all the work I did in the yard this morning, it now looks as if I didn’t do anything at all. Oh well, I guess I’ll be back rolling that rock up the hill tomorrow.
Later.
