Another week of lumbering is in the books if I deem it so. Right now, I sit on 26.17 miles for the week, but knowing that I only need 3.83 miles to hit 30 miles will be difficult to pass up.
However, I must admit the combination of 25+ miles in my feetz, a lack of photo-ops, and multiple days of outdoor work in the intense heat has me a bit worn down.
I’m also a bit worn down from working on this site, but I’m getting closer to having it the way I want. To be honest, I have no idea why I care! I think it mostly has to do with change, and I don’t particularly like change all that much.
Thursday’s 5+ miles were OK, but the only photo I got was of the spider you see above. Damn, was that thing meaty, and it was devouring a ladybug caught in its web—crazy stuff!
There was even less to photograph on Friday, but that’s OK, ’cause the woods were dark as night, the thunder was rolling in the clouds above, and a steady rain started at about the 3-mile mark and would continue coming down for the next 2+ miles. It was bliss!
I had packed a big ol’ Zip-Lock freezer bag to stuff my camera in in the event it rained (win!), and once it was dry and safe, I removed my cap and let the warm rain wash over me as I plodded along. It was like an enema for the mind, body, and soul. And as he water rolled off me, it was as if it was washing away the darkness that so often plagues my mind. I highly recommend it.
In other news…
I got to catch up with B this week, and he is working on a few editing projects right now, two of which are with former professors of his. One is a short film written by a professor who was with his class in England this summer. The second is with a former professor who has been put in charge of creating a film presentation for one of the science departments that is potentially worth a lot of money for the school.
He sent the above pic from the set of the short film, and said, “That’s over $10,000 worth of equipment hanging from that backboard!”
Lastly, one of the things that bugs me about the new blog theme is the size of the photos. So, I found some new ways of hosting photos in a slideshow that, when you click on the pic, you can see a much larger version. I like to have a large version for folks to see, especially when I post macro and close-up images. As a bonus, the images are not uploaded to my database, so that I can free up more memory as well as make for faster page loads.
I always prefer that folks view this blog on a desktop browser, but this plugin seems to be a bit better when viewed on a tablet or phone. At least I hope. The above slideshow is a test, but I figured since I don’t have many photos for this post, I’d include it here.
